Con­trary to pop­u­lar opin­ion, the Old Tes­ta­ment book of Ruth is not a romance novel couched between the books of Judges and 1 Samuel. Ruth is a book about three wid­ows whose lives have dis­in­te­grated into hope­less­ness, about three women whose tough choices will deter­mine whether or not their lives will blos­som into sig­nif­i­cance. Ruth also intro­duces us to a man whose heart is taken by the beauty and char­ac­ter of Ruth — a man who is will­ing to become God’s hand to bring res­o­lu­tion and redemp­tion to the plight of Ruth and Naomi.

In this book we will trace the unseen hand of God through the lives of three indi­vid­u­als. Ruth is a liv­ing pic­ture of the love and grace that God desires to abun­dantly give when life deals us a tough hand.  We will meet God in a fresh and dynamic way and find the joy of learn­ing to be the exten­sion of his hand and heart.
